Masters of the Renaissance: The Netherlands School

This year, our Renaissance program traces the richest choral tradition in European history — works by Dufay, Busnois, Ockeghem, Josquin, Isaac, Lassus, and others.

“The ensemble’s recording of Renaissance music, Beyond Chant, is a classic. The music is exquisitely beautiful and the performances are as good as you’re going to hear anywhere. Josquin’s Tu Pauperum Refugium is worth the price of the CD all by itself. Keene has worked out superb balances with his singers. Along with great rhythmic vitality there is an absolutely even blend. Yet every voice can be heard clearly, all firmly supported by a rich, resonant bass line.”
