After the cosmic extravaganza of yesterday’s sections, Bach then gives us the smallest scaled movement in the entire Mass, the” Benedictus,” for tenor and flute solo. In its simplicity, this aria creates a truly poignant moment of quiet. The celebratory “Osanna” is then repeated.
